Material Installation | Retro Future Expo |Evoluon
Home Grown explores how discarded textile can become a substrate for fungal growth and be transformed into a new interior material. The installation is composed of fabric pieces
inoculated with different fungal spores, allowing mycelium to grow across the textile and
gradually bind the surface into a continuous
carpet-like material.
The project treats fungal growth as part of the making process, where the final texture,
colour, and surface are shaped by biological development. The resulting mycelium carpet was exhibited at the Retro Future Expo at Evoluon, Eindhoven, as an exploration of how discarded materials and living processes can become part of interior architecture.
